A constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR).

Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

About CSIR

The Council of Scientific & industrial Research (CSIR) the premier industrial R&D organization of India was constituted in 1942 by a resolution of the then Central Legislative Assembly. It is an autonomous body registered under the registration of Societies Act of 1860.

Science and Technology has always been a major driver of a nation's socio-economic development and CSIR has had a long history of developing technologies for the masses. Many of these technologies are in practice even today. The Scientists who developed these technologies have remained nameless; many have even been forgotten. However, the legacy of discovery/invention has never been abandoned at CSIR.

CSIR, the premier Science & Technology organization of the country, draws inspiration from the words of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, "It is science alone that can solve the problems of hunger and poverty" and remains committed to translating the might of science for the benefits of the masses, since inception.

CSIR feels that today more than ever before Science & Technology interventions need to be deployed for meeting the aspirations of the huge population of the country. Considering greater expectations of the country, CSIR has geared up itself afresh, to support Government efforts in enhancing the livelihood security of the country.
